I’ve been a bit reluctant to write about this. I’ve already included a message on my news bar on the top as well as announced via Facebook, but still I am sure many don’t know. So here it is:
This blog has over 9,000 readers that are subscribed to it via RSS. If you are one of them and if you haven’t heard yet, Google Reader is SHUTTING DOWN on July 1st.
If you rely on RSS updates for new content notification on this blog and read its content through Google Reader, you will no longer be receiving updates.
There are a few things you can do to ensure you continue to get all the updates:
The last option is the best as it ensures we can stay in touch no matter what happens to RSS readers that we have no control over.
Here is the link that will take you to the image above. Once there, select the best option for you.
No matter which route you choose, CHOOSE ONE. It’s easy to say “oh forget it I will just check up on the site by visiting it every now and then”. Trust me, this does not happen.
When I unsubscribed from several blogs that I used to read, this was exactly my attitude. Guess what? I have not been back to those blogs and years have gone by.
Don’t let this happen to you. If you are truly interested in following the content on my blog, you can spend less than a minute right now and ensure that you automatically receive updates by selecting one of the options above. Or you can subscribe to my updates via email here.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support. This blog is steadily growing and nearing 10,000 RSS readers.
I couldn’t do any of this without you.
THANK YOU!

Ohh, that’s a sad news. any other alternative.
you can use any reader you are comfortable with Asher. if you click the Feedburner link above it will provide you with several choices.
An RSS document, called a “feed,” is a syndication of information supplied by a website. Anyone with an RSS feed reader can subscribe to an RSS feed; once subscribed, the reader checks for new content and updates as it becomes available. This makes it easy to keep up-to-date with changes without needing to manually visit the website every day.
Fresh Content.net delivers free web content to your web site with our free rss newsfeeds. Have fresh news articles automatically appear on your site throughout the day. No need to register. Just copy-and-paste installation code into your web page(s) and be on your way. Handling your free content needs couldn’t be any easier!
Thanks for reminding us that we need to shift to a new reader. I have found Feedly does the job nicely. Now I can keep reading your blog without having to physically visit (so to speak). cheers, ashley
Feedly is an easy switch. glad to see there are many other services out there
I disliked Feedly. I’ve been using The Old Reader for a few months and it’s been working great for me. It’s fast, realiable, and best of all based (visually) on Google Reader, so it didn’t take long to get used to it. You might want to try it if any other feed reader doesn’t work for you.
thanks for additional options Martina. of course as a writer I’d prefer to be able to reach you in your inboxes, but I understand we all have our preferred ways to consume content
RSS feed can enhance the SERPs as search engine reads it regularly on your website
